The “Parliamentary Friends of Motoring” group was formed through bipartisan collaboration between Senator Kate Lundy (Labor), Senator Ricky Muir (AMEP) and Fiona Scott (Liberal) MP.
The group has been formed to raise awareness of the economic and social benefits of motoring and motorsport and its associated industries; to provide a forum for stakeholders and peak bodies dedicated to motoring to discuss issues with Senators and Members; and to celebrate the contribution that motoring has made to Australia.
The launch was held on the lawn in front of Parliament House, Canberra on Tuesday 2nd December 2014. It was supported by a car show, of predominantly classic and historic vehicles, organised by the Council of ACT Motor Clubs.
The launch was jointly supported by the Australian Federal Police and the National Roads and Motorists’ Association (NRMA)
